What Is Human Growth Hormone (HGH)

Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is one of the most important hormones affecting the health of every cell in your body. HGH is a complex protein hormone of 191 amino acids, laid out in a particular order, which is synthesized and secreted by cells called somatotrophs.

Responsible for your body’s growth, maintenance and repair, Human Growth Hormone is produced in the anterior pituitary, a gland attached to the Hypothalamus, which is found at the base of the brain. Growth Hormone (GH) is like testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, melatonin or DHEA – one of many endocrine hormones that decline with age.

As we age, we gradually lose Human Growth Hormone. Starting in our 20’s, Growth Hormone secretion declines anywhere between 10% to 20% a decade, and by 50 you only secrete 25% as much as the average 20 year old. By the time we reach 60 we don’t produce much Growth Hormone. The decline in Human Growth Hormone contributes to the acceleration of the aging process and symptoms associated with Adult Onset Growth Hormone Deficiency (AGHD). In women, it signals menopause; in men – male menopause (Andropause).

With HGH Therapy using natural, bio-identical growth hormone injections under a licensed physician’s supervision – hormonal balance can be restored. When your hormones are in balance, you feel better, have more strength and energy, can better build muscle and lose weight, sleep better, experience an increase sex drive and enthusiasm for life. Scientific Test Studies Prove HGH Therapy Effectiveness

The first major study showing the promise of HGH Therapy was published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 1990. During a 6 month period 12 test subjects received HGH injections and 9 control subjects did not. The test subjects were all healthy men. The results were amazing: increases in lean muscle mass, decreases in adipose fat tissue, and increases in vertebral bone height.  This HGH Landmark Study, orchestrated by the renowned Daniel Rudman MD, is one of the best examples of medical literature that discusses the effects of HGH therapy.

A 1991 study by the Department of Physiology and Medicine, University of New Mexico USA, concludes that Growth Hormone injections using FDA approved rDNA Human Growth Hormone reduces body fat in obese women even in the apparent absence of significant calorie restriction. This study shows that even without dieting Growth Hormone aids in fat loss.

A 2003 study by the National Institutes of Health, Maryland USA, shows that in healthy aging adults, Human Growth Hormone and sex hormone supplementation with testosterone therapy creates a positive response on decreasing body fat and improving sexual function. Particularly the abdominal visceral fat we all want to lose. We may be able to lose that spare tire when Human Growth Hormone is combined with a healthy diet and exercise. There are hundreds of other medical abstracts that show how well Growth Hormone works not just to help improve our body composition but also to improve our mental state and sexual health. What else can Human Growth Hormone do?

How Does Human Growth Hormone Help Us Lose Weight and Burn Fat?

Human Growth Hormone works by increasing the amount of IGF-1 that your liver produces. IGF-1 prevents insulin from transporting glucose to cells. Normally, after you eat, your pancreas releases just the right amount of insulin needed to convert carbohydrates into glucose. Your body then stores this glucose in fat cells, many of which are found around our waistline, and uses it for energy.

Human Growth Hormone induced IGF-1 prevents insulin from storing this glucose in cells, forcing your body to burn fat for energy. When you inject HGH into your system, your metabolism changes reducing the amount of fat you store for energy.

Signs of Low Testosterone Levels in Women!

Low testosterone in women

If you are a regular reader of my blogs, then you know I often write about low testosterone, or Low T, in men. Chances are, when you hear the word “testosterone” automatically you think of men. After all, you all learned in high school biology that testosterone is the “male hormone.”

But the truth is, women’s bodies make and need testosterone as well.

And, just as in men, as women get older, testosterone levels drop, which leads to a number of problems. Especially when dealing with loss of libido.

In addition to a decrease in your sexual appetite, here are a few other telltale signs that you may be a woman experiencing sub-optimal testosterone levels.

  • Weight gain and difficulty losing weight – If you are gaining weight more easily, and it is more difficult to take it off, particularly “belly fat,” low testosterone could be the problem. Testosterone is instrumental to how your body stores fat and builds muscle.
    • Lower than normal testosterone levels favors the storage of fat, and also makes it much more difficult to build lean muscle mass. Researchers have found that low testosterone can actually cause your body to lose muscle you may have already built up when your levels were higher!
  • women with low testosteroneIncreased Fatigue – Finding yourself more tired than usual, or “tired all the time,” despite getting about the same amount of sleep you always have, is also a common sign of low testosterone. It’s not only being tired during the day.
    • Even if you generally feel “OK,” but you tire easily after mild exertion, or you cannot walk as fast or as far as you used to, it is a good chance your testosterone is below normal.
  • Depression and/or anxiety – Emotional problems such as unusual bouts of depression, anxiety, or other “mood swings,” could also be indicative of low testosterone.
  • Frailty, lack of bone density – Women suffer bone loss, or osteoporosis more often than men, primarily due to loss of estrogen. However, declining testosterone also leads to loss of bone density.
    • Unless a slight fall, or bump leads to a fracture, it can be very difficult to tell if you are experiencing bone loss, but, one way is grip strength. If you are finding it more difficult to grasp, or hold on to objects, or your “handshake” has become weaker, or it is painful when someone shakes your hand, you could have weakening bones.

Optimization for Low Testosterone

The above signs and symptoms of low testosterone should not be thought of as way of diagnosis, but merely as indicators, that you may be a woman dealing with low testosterone. testosterone therapy for low testosteroneThe only way to know for sure is to see your doctor, and have your levels tested.

Women who have been diagnosed with low testosterone, often can benefit from testosterone optimization via bioidentical hormone replacement therapies (BHRT).

BHRT has been found to be the most effective way we currently have to deal with the most debilitating symptoms of Low T in women. If you are experiencing any of the signs discussed, contact my office today for a FREE consultation to see if Low  T could be your problem and if you’re a candidate for BHRT.
