NOLVADEX (Tamoxifen Citrate)
Description: Nolvadex is very comparable to Clomid (Clomiphene), the fertilization drug and behaves in the same manner in all tissues. Nolvadex is a mixed estrogen agonist/antagonist of the same type as Clomid and the two molecules are also very similar in structure. Nolvadex is widely used in hormone replacement therapy (HRT) along with anabolic steroids and HGH Human Growth Hormone.
Nolvadex has the effect of reducing levels of estrogen by blocking estrogen from estrogen receptors and in those tissues where it is an antagonist, causes the receptors to do nothing.
Nolvadex does not necessarily reduce muscle gains and any number of bodybuilders have made excellent gains while using Nolvadex. The belief that may reduce gains seems to stem from the fact that the scientific literature reports a slight reduction in IGF-1. However, individuals using anabolic steroids were not studied with use of Nolvadex. Dan Duchaine had reported in a study that Nolvadex slightly reduced IGF-1 and therefore could could be considered to reduce gains. If this effect exists at all, it must be very minor due to the excellent gains that many weightbuilders have made and also from the fact that no one has noticed any such gain reduction from Clomid (Clomiphene) which has the same activity profile as Nolvadex.
If not properly informed, a steroid user could be concerned that Clomid may reduce his gains but the facts do not support this and Nolvadex has a clinical record of being an effective ancilliary hormone medication used successfully with many anti-aging hormone replacement therapy programs.
The fact that Nolvadex will reduce water retention may result in the user assuming that gains are less, since weight gain with water retention is less. It is recommended however, to avoid water retention and bloating by using Nolvadex in a cycle that consists of anabolic steroids and Human Growth Homrone HGH.
Beyond hormone replacement therapy purposes, Nolvadex is commonly used for the treatment of breast cancer while Clomid (Clomiphene) is generally considered a fertility drug. Clomid is also generally used for post-cycle therapy whereas Nolvadex being a powerful anti-estrogen drug serves as a highly effective estrogen blocker.
