E

ECA Stack

A thermogenic supplement blend of Ephedra, Caffeine and Aspirin that is popular among fitness and bodybuilding cultures. It is said that these three ingredients give a synergistic effect together which give better results than any one on its own.

Echincea

Herb with immune protective properties, shown to have some benefit protecting against colds and flu. It can be used as a preventive measure to protect the body against the natural stress the immune system suffers in heavy training.

Egg protein

Source of protein with high Protein Efficiency Ratio, usually in egg white form (albumin) when used in protein powder to avoid cholesterol in egg yolk. Egg protein is the standard by which all other proteins are measured because of its very high ration of indispensable amino acids (also called essential amino acids because they must be supplied to the body from food or supplements) to dispensable amino acids.

Ephedra / Ephedrine

The active ingredient in the Oriental herb Ma Huang (Ephedra sinensis); this chemical has been proven to be both a powerful energizer and weight loss aid. Ephedrine is a powerful thermogenic agent: It releases norepinephrine, a brain neurotransmitter than exerts a stimulating effect. This same neurotransmitter signals the sympathetic nervous system, which is called into play during a 'fight or flight' response. Body temperature rises and promotes the breakdown of fat cells for fuel.

Use ephedrine for short periods only. Cycling ephedrine can help you avoid side effects as well as improve results of your hard training. Ephedrine, taken with caffeine, can increase each other's ability to induce lipolysis (fat burning). Ephedrine acts at your body's nerve junctions, changing the release and activity of norepinephrine as well as acting on your beta-2 adrenergic receptors.

Erectile dysfunction (ED, "male impotence") is sexual dysfunction characterized by the inability to develop or maintain an erection of the penis during sexual performance. ED is a common men's health problem characterized by the consistent inability to sustain an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse or the inability to achieve ejaculation, or both. Impotence can involve a total inability to achieve an erection or ejaculation, an inconsistent ability to do so or a tendency to sustain only very brief erections or have very soft erections.

Ergogenic aids

Any nutrients that improve athletic performance.

Essential Fatty Acids (EFA)

They include Linoleic Acid, Omega-3 Fatty Acids, and Monounsaturated fats. These are considered the 'good' fats. They cannot be made by the body and must be supplied by our diet. You need approxiamately 2% of your daily calories as EFA's. By consuming plenty of EFAs, you supply your body with the appropriate precursors to form cell membranes and regulatory eicosanoids.

Estradiol

Primarily prescribed for the treatment of moderate to severe symptoms associated with menopause; Estradiol is the most bioactive and potent of the estrogens found in the body. Estradiol is the most predominant estrogen produced by the human ovary prior to menopause, and is responsible for over 400 functions in the human body.

In women, estradiol replaces deficient natural levels of estrogen in the body. Estradiol slows the breakdown of bones and is prescribed to women that do not produce estradiol. Estradiol may be very effective for the symptomatic relief of hot flashes, genitourinary symptoms, osteoporosis prophylaxis, psychological well-being and reduction of coronary artery disease. Estradiol works best when used with calcium/vitamin D supplements, weight-bearing exercises like walking, or physical therapy. Estradiol may also be used to lower high cholesterol in women who have gone through menopause.

In men, HGH human growth hormone inhibits development of cells in the prostate gland.

Estrogen

Estrogen is a female hormone produced by the ovaries. Estrogen deficiency can lead to osteoporosis.

Estrogens (AmE), oestrogens (BE), or œstrogens, are a group of steroid compounds, named for their importance in the estrous cycle, and functioning as the primary female sex hormone.

The three major naturally occurring estrogens in women are estrone (E1), estradiol (E2), and estriol (E3). Estradiol (E2) is the predominant form in nonpregnant females, estrone is produced during menopause, and estriol is the primary estrogen of pregnancy.

Estrogen is used to treat hot flushes  or hot flashes; sudden strong feelings of heat and sweating in women who are experiencing menopause. Some types of estrogen are also used to treat vaginal dryness, itching, or burning, or to prevent osteoporosis.

Estrogens are used as part of some oral contraceptives, in estrogen replacement therapy (ET) for postmenopausal women, and in Hormone Replacement Therapy.

While estrogens are present in both men and women, they are usually present at significantly higher levels in women of reproductive age. They promote the development of female secondary sexual characteristics, such as breasts, and are also involved in the thickening of the endometrium and other aspects of regulating the menstrual cycle. In males, estrogen regulates certain functions of the reproductive system important to the maturation of sperm and may be necessary for a healthy libido.

Estrogen is plays a significant role in women’s mental health. Sudden estrogen withdrawal, fluctuating estrogen, and periods of sustained estrogen low levels correlates with significant mood lowering. Clinical recovery from postpartum, perimenopause, and postmenopause depression has been shown to be effective after levels of estrogen were stabilized or restored.
