It has been more than a decade since researchers first suggested a link between oral health and erectile dysfunction. The latest research confirms that men with gum disease are also more likely to have ED.
Researchers in China conducted what they call a “meta-analysis” of five studies on the link between periodontitis, or gum disease, and ED between the years of 2009 and 2014. In total, the studies covered 213,000 participants aged 20 to 80.
The researchers concluded that “erectile dysfunction was more common among men being treated for chronic periodontitis, particularly for those younger than 40 and older than 59. After accounting for diabetes, which can influence both gum disease and sexual function, erectile dysfunction was 2.28 times more common for men with periodontitis than for men without it…” The study was published in the International Journal of Impotence Research.
But what does gum disease have to do with your penis? What is the link between ED and unhealthy gums and teeth?
ED and Gum Disease
Gum disease causes your gums to recede from your teeth. This leaves big open spaces between your gums and teeth. Bacteria can easily enter these spaces, especially if you have poor oral hygiene. Once the bacteria enter your blood stream, they damage blood vessels, including those in your penis. Blood flow is restricted in the damaged vessels. Good blood flow is essential to getting and maintaining an erection.
The same damage could be effecting your heart. So, if you have bad gums, and ED, this can be an early warning sign of cardiovascular disease.
The Latest Treatments to Help Men With ED
If your gum disease is caught early, and it is the cause of your ED, taking better care of your mouth and gums could help. A few good deep cleanings from your dentist could reverse the damage of gum disease. In more severe cases, dental surgery to rebuild the bone beneath the gums may be necessary.
Even if you repair the damage to your gums, or even if you do not have a problem with gum disease, the key to proper erectile function is good blood flow and circulation.
That is why our new and improved Gains Enhancement® goes right to the root of the problem, by combining two remarkable treatments that both improve blood flow to the penis.
The GAINSWave uses high-frequency acoustical waves that can actually repair or replace blood vessels that have been damaged. So, it is an ideal treatment for men whose ED could be the result of bacterial trauma to vessels due to gum disease.
The GAINSWave uses the only FDA cleared medical device that has been shown in studies to be effective for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
The GAINSWave™ and the P-shot are what we call “synergistic,” meaning that each one enhances the effect of the other. When we combine the two therapies to create the Gains Enhancement, we deliver a “one-two punch,” that results in increased circulation, and the rejuvenation of erectile tissue.
Because of these two effects – improved blood flow, and growth of new tissue — the Gains Enhancement is not only for men with gum disease!
Any man experiencing ED who is looking for an alternative ED treatment, or who has been disappointed by his results from oral ED drugs, can benefit from the Gaines Enhancement.
There is also an “added bonus” to Gains Enhancement therapy. Since it stimulates improved blood flow and the regrowth tissue, it is one of the only non-surgical ED treatments that can also increase the length and width of your penis*!
*with optional “add-ons” for increased penis size.
