The latest research suggests that testosterone therapy may help men with frequent urination issues.
You know what they say, “when you’ve got to go – you’ve got to go.” For many men, when they reach a certain age however, they may experience the urge “to go” – or urinate, way too often. This can be uncomfortable, and debilitating, particularly wen such urges occur at night and interfere with your ability to get a good night’s sleep.
The condition is known as nocturia, and new research suggests that testosterone replacement therapy could be beneficial for these men.
How Can Testosterone Therapy Help Treat Nocturia?
The study, which was conducted in Japan, looked at 64 men who suffered with nocturia, defined as a need to get up twice or more to urinate during the night. The men were split into two groups, 33 men receiving placebo and 31 men receiving 250 mg of testosterone via intramuscular injection every 4 to 6 weeks.
After the trial period, the 33 men in the placebo group saw “no significant improvement in symptoms.” The men taking testosterone did show major improvements as determined by a questionnaire. The men receiving the testosterone injections reported significantly less frequent need to get up to urinate on a nightly basis, as well as an overall improvement in quality and quantity of sleep.
The condition is quite prevalent, with a 2003 study reporting that 65% of men between 54 and 85, experience nocturia at least once or twice a week.
This is not the first time frequent nighttime urination has been linked with low testosterone. A 2011 study published in Urology, found that men with higher than normal testosterone levels, were 44% less likely to suffer from the condition, than men with normal, or below normal testosterone levels.
As to why lower testosterone can lead to the need to urinate more, the researchers suggested that low testosterone levels contribute to decreased levels of nitric oxide in the blood stream. A drop in nitric oxide levels has been known to effect the normal function of the bladder muscle, which can cause urination issues.
Testosterone Therapy Benefits for Medical Conditions
In addition to this latest research on how testosterone can benefit men with frequent urination problems, there are many other proven benefits of testosterone therapy.
If you are feeling tired, moody, putting on weight, and experiencing some “trouble in the bedroom,” don’t let your doctor dismiss it, and tell you that you are “just getting old.” You may be suffering the symptoms of low testosterone or “Low-T.”
Low-T can affect your quality of life from the boardroom to the bedroom. If you are not the maverick you once were on the job, or pleasing your partner the way you used to, you may benefit from testosterone therapy.
However, the only way to tell if you have Low-T is to have a proper test done by a qualified physician. Real testosterone therapy can only be obtained with a doctor’s prescription.
If you are experiencing problems with frequent urination, or you think you may be experiencing one or more of the symptoms of Low-T, why not call our offices today, and speak to one of our wellness counselors, you may qualify for a first month’s supply of testosterone absolutely FREE!
